Serbians protest Kosovo independence: Anarchy Reigns

When people take to the streets, the result takes several forms, from protest to anarchy. In my mind, what we are seeing in Kosovo is government-sponsored anarchy, where an absence of governmental authority exists and political disorder and confusion rule.

The fuel for the fire was the announcement of Kosovo independence from Serbia and the follow-up of announced support for that independence by the United States and several other Western nations. With the approval of the Serbian government, Serbs have taken to the streets chanting "Kosovo is Serbia!" Today is the sixth day of protests (Saturday, February 22).

U.N. police in riot gear are attempting to keep separate Serbs and ethnic Albanian, as Serbian protesters wave Serbian and Russian flags. (Russia is opposed to independence for Kosovo.) Serbs represent about 10 percent of the region's 2 million people.

Get Pissed America. These Kids are Our Future

Where's the leadership? Where's the outrage? As a society we are failing our children. We aren't educating them nearly well enough; we aren't raising them to take personal responsibility for themselves, their families, their friends, their neighborhoods or their country; we aren't teaching them to be good citizens, to work hard, to care about others, to respect.

Don't believe me. Watch this video, then you answer the questions it raises. And if like me you get pissed off, demand that your elected officials show leadership on these issues. But more importantly, get involved. (Also see my earlier post today, "Hurt People, Hurt People.")

An official update to the original "Shift Happens" video from Karl Fisch and Scott McLeod, this June 2007 update includes new and updated statistics, thought-provoking questions and a fresh design. Osama bin Laden's Worst Nightmare

It's the silly season, only this year we don't have the luxury to be silly. Al Qaeda and sundry other groups wants the West to die. So when someone on the campaign trail says, "My presidency will be al Qaeda's worst nightmare,” we pause to listen. That is what happened yesterday in LA.

John_mccainsolitary_ap Senator John McCain, R-Arizona, said, “Osama bin Laden and his henchmen must be hunted down — and as president, I will. Al Qaeda terrorists and the violent, aggressive ideology they propagandize must be defeated across the globe, in Afghanistan and in Iraq, which bin Laden's top lieutenant calls al Qaeda's central battlefront against the United States. My presidency will be al Qaeda's worst nightmare.”

Any reason for us to pay extra attention to McCain? He is, after all, a war hero and one tough dude.

Hillary Goes Hollywood

In the event you haven't seen this... See my questions after you watch the video. We really want your thoughts on this one.

What do you think? Is this the way to brand yourself if you're running for President? A good marketing piece for raising money? Does this sell you on her candidacy? Does it show you her human side?

The Silly Season Kicks It Up Into Another Gear

I received an e-mail this morning announcing a new grassroots campaign for Jay Leno, a newly addedJay_leno  candidate for President. Although Jay has neither acknowledged his campaign nor his candidacy, he can count on my support, also unacknowledged, except here in jest. As I said on his unofficial campaign blog, at least Jay will make us laugh on purpose and by design.

Here is the news:

Jay Leno for President
The unofficially unauthorized campaign to elect Jay Leno president

"The list of blogs and websites was carefully developed by randomly and indiscriminately selecting links from across the web. With Jay's challengers spending millions on their websites and blogs, the Jay Leno for President campaign needed a really different approach," said the campaign's webmaster. "What sets us apart is we've got no money to work with and virtually no experience at doing any of this. It's really exciting!

"Though Jay Leno has yet to acknowledge the existence of the campaign to elect him president, organizers are confident he'll find out about it sooner or later. Said campaign chairman, Howard L., "With tens of millions of Jay supporters sprouting from the grassroots, it's just a matter of time until Jay sees the surfboard of opportunity we've created for him. Once he climbs aboard, he can leisurely ride the tidal wave of support right into the Oval Office."

I am honored that bizsolutionsplus was indiscriminately selected.
