Fridays and Weekends Rock with Lou Reed
Lou Reed was born March 2, 1942, in Brooklyn. His career was launched in the '60s as the lead singer and songwriter for Velvet Underground. That early music earned him a reputation as the father of Punk. In 1970, he left the Velvet Underground and lived the life of a recluse for nearly two years. He launched his solo career in England in 1971. Today, his music is better classified as minimalist rock and lyrics that paint dreams, desire and despair.
