Yesterday, Saturday, May 26, friends gathered in Manhattan, to meet, socialize and to honor CK and her
Momma. Some of us were meeting for the first time. One of us flew in from Belgium. (Love you Luc.)
As many of you know, CK's Momma passed away recently. CK very much loved her Momma, and much of the person we know as CK is a gift from her Momma. Some of us, (led by Drew McLellan: The Marketing Minute, and David Reich, my 2 cents) gathered in a Family Park in Spanish Harlem where a tree has been planted in Sandra Kerley's honor. Contributions came from bloggers across the blogosphere and the world.
CK has not idea that this was going to happen, and the surprise required tricksters Drew (Drew McLellan, The Marketing Minute), and David (David Reich, my 2 cents), to not only get her to the garden unaware and to get us there before she arrived but to keep her in town, as she was seriously thinking about taking advantage of the long weekend and getting away.
Anyway, it all worked out and by 11:30 a.m., CK, Drew and David arrived to be greeted by Luc (Luc Debaisieux, Mindblob), Valeria (Valeria Maltoni, Conversation Agent), and me. CK was shocked, to say the least, especially with the presence of Luc, who by the way brought everyone Belgium Chocolates. As a final surprise, Toby Bloomberg, The Marketing Diva, and David Armano, Logic + Emotion, called in to say hi.
Here we all are, later on at lunch. From top to bottom, left to right, are: the old man, Luc, Drew (who flew in from Des Moines, Iowa, with his lovely wife and 14-year-old daughter), David, CK, and Valeria, all the way from Philadelphia.
And here is the beautiful and charming CK making me look good.
